Through SHINE, students tutor older immigrants in English, health literacy and civic education, helping them access healthcare, become U.S. citizens and participate more actively in their communities.
Measurable Impact:
Since 1997, 5,210 college students from 31 institutions in 25 states have provided 90,000 hours of service and instruction to 9,000 older immigrants and refugees.
